Computer Museum of America to Help Scouts Earn Badges

Children, Education

We are happy to announce that Girl Scout Badge workshops are coming soon!

Computer Museum of America (CMoA) is working with Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta to offer badge workshops on a variety of STEM topics. The first workshop is being developed for Junior and Cadette Scouts to earn their STEM Career Exploration badges. Will we meet the next Margaret Hamilton, Katherine Johnson, or Hedy Lamarr? Inspiration is around every corner at CMoA.

The 1.5-hour long workshop will include admission to the museum for the scout, tour, activity, and the badge ready to proudly add to the scout’s sash! This course can be completed as a troop or individually. The cost per scout will be between $20-$25. Dates and registration information for the workshops will be available on our website in the coming weeks.

Cybersecurity is an important topic (and career choice) today. But what is it exactly? CMoA will launch a workshop for girl scouts to earn their Cybersecurity I: Basics badge beginning in January.

If you are interested in either of these badge workshops, email CMoA’s Education and Public Programs Manager, Becah Jubon at bjubon@thecmoa.org.

Additionally, we want to offer Cub and Boy Scouts an experience that leads them towards merit badges in Digital Technology, Electricity, and Electronics areas. Stay tuned!

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and helping CMoA with scout badge workshops, please let us know. No experience is necessary. We will train you to lead and/or assist groups with this CMoA experience.
