Talking Tech at CMoA – Adapting the Unspoken: Designing an Improvisational Co-Creative AI Dance Partner

In our National Science Foundation supported research, “Participatory Sensemaking in Embodied Co-Creative Agents”, collaborators from Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State University analyze a dancer’s sensemaking process in an improvisatory dance setting.

This research shines a light on the nuanced and intuitive decisions involved in co-creative dance exchanges. Through this research, we aim to impart invaluable information to design a co-creative artificial intelligence tool to improvise with dancers, while also gaining new perspectives to recognize the deep value of our embodied choices. In this talk, participants will learn about the research taking place between our team of scientists and dance experts and discuss the limitless applications of dance and technology in the realms of learning, training, and creativity.
