Meet Typewriter Tom

Want to try out a vintage typewriter and get a sense of what keyboards were like before computer keyboards? Can you type on a manual typewriter faster than you can tap out a message on your device? Experience how the keyboards felt and sounded before the machine was ever connected to electricity. See if you can identify some common keys on keyboards of today that were not on earlier models. Visit Computer Museum of America on today from 12 – 5 PM and try out a few units and meet typewriter subject matter expert Tom Rehkopf.

Free with museum admission.

BYTE – A Night of Cuisine, Cocktails, and Computers

Raise a glass for Computer Museum of America (CMoA) at the second annual BYTE fundraiser. Enjoy dinner bytes, beverages from a hosted bar, live music by The Bourbon Brothers, and exclusive access to the Museum during this event including a new temporary exhibit, They Made What? Surprising Products from Innovative Companies. It’s a fun look at times tech companies explored a new business, released an unexpected product, or were simply too early with an idea. Did you know IBM once produced a coffee grinder?
