2023 Summer Camp: Junior Adventures with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Jun 19 @ 1:00 pm – Jun 23 @ 4:00 pm

Camp Name: Junior Adventures with Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Camp Week: June 19-23, 2023
Suggested Ages: 8 – 12
Duration: Half Day Camp (M-F)  1 – 4PM

Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is the ability for computers to do things that are considered characteristic of intelligence: language processing, pictorial interpretations, pattern detection and more! Recently, with the advancement of computing power and ability to process high volumes of data, computers have been able to generate more accurate models that predict responses.

Our kids are growing up in an environment full of A.I. driven devices and it is becoming increasingly important for them to understand and learn to use this technology around them.

Using easy to use AI powered programs your child will learn:

  • What is Artificial intelligence?
  • Fundamentals of Machine learning
  • Creating code to detect patterns
  • Design and code games and teach the computer how to play it.
  • Discover how to create an intelligent machine!
  • Generating data sets
  • Debugging
  • An understanding of futuristic machines such as Humanoid Androids, Robot Swarms, Nanobots and more!

*All software, materials, and laptops provided for use during camp at no additional charge***

Museum After-Hours: Punching Up The Punch Card Exhibit
Jun 23 @ 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Join us Friday, June 23rd from 5:30 – 9:00 PM as we unveil a refresh to CMoA’s punch card exhibit. The expanded exhibit tells the story of how punched cards became so prevalent and depended upon in modern computing. From Jacquard’s Loom to Herman Hollerith’s invention of electromechanical processing of cards to tabulate data for the 1890 census, to the late 20th-century use of the IBM family of punch card machines, the punch card was revolutionary at the time. They were even used for matchmaking at the University of Iowa in 1963!

Join us for the exhibit refresh unveiling, punch a souvenir card on an IBM 029, and explore the other exhibits while enjoying live music, complimentary light bites, and a cash bar.

Tickets are $25.00 if purchased in advance.
